Pledge of Commitment on providing quality service to TB patients, including mandatory notification

Tuberculosis or TB is one of the leading causes of death in the Philippines. It is estimated that there are at least 60 deaths per day due to TB, despite having an established and affordable cure. During the World TB Day celebration on March 24, 2018, the call to achieving a TB-free Philippines was for leaders from different sectors of the community to step up and lead the fight. Last November 16, 2018, professional and multi-disciplinary organizations in the Philippines gathered in Crowne Plaza Hotel to pledge their commitment to provide quality service to TB patients, including mandatory reporting of cases. Dr. Mario M. Panaligan, president of The Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Disease (PSMID), was among the leaders in this monumental event. This event was also held in cooperation with the Philippine Coalition Against TB (PhilCAT), Philippine College of Physicians (PCP), Philippine College of Chest Phyisicians (PCCP).
